The Brokedown
(now known as The Broken West)
Recorded from 10/04 to 4/05, this EP was done in various rehearsal spaces and apartments in LA, and mixed in the box with ProTools. Has seen play on Indie 103.1 (LA) and on LittleRadio.com by Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre).
On interest garnered from their great live shows and this EP, The Broken West were signed to Merge Records in 2006, and I mixed 5 songs on their debut LP "I Can't Go On, I'll Go On". I can't post that stuff here, but check their Myspace link, buy the album, and catch a show!
Owlbear
Recorded in a house in Silverlake, CA, early 2005. Breakneck recording of a song written on the spot. As heard on the Attacknine Records Family & Friends compilation, "Presence Under The Tree".
AP English
"Earnest", "New England Roses", and "Walt Disney's Brain" recorded in my small project studio, 2005-2006. "Keep Your Arms In" recorded at Record Plant, Hollywood, CA, November 2005.
Clones Don't Have Bellybuttons
From an EP, "The Pride of Men", recorded in a Boston basement late 2002. These guys are my favorite band ever. RIP.
Dawitt Wolde
Recorded at Berklee College of Music, 2001. A telling of the Bible's story of David, sung in an Ethiopian dialect. Produced by Eric Wainaina, a major Kenyan artist who is known for using music to shed light on the Kenyan government's shortcomings.
Particle Zoo
feat. K. Ishibashi & Flex
A live to 2-track recording. All the musicians were in the room and the bleed makes it gel oh-so-well. This was originally a jam by Particle Zoo that we all structured into the piece heard here. My first school project, recorded in Berklee's Studio B, Spring 2001.
Sarah Schweppe & Her Blackjacks
A smoldering, bittersweet jazz track written by Sarah and performed live with the band. I mixed this track at Record Plant. It is from a session recorded by Ryan Kennedy and Nate Hertweck, also at Record Plant. December 2006.
